A few days before the annual Mother's Day event, "Artists on the Hudson", I painted this view of the Sunnyside cottage (home of Washington Irving) from above in the meadow.  A striking, tall dogwood was blooming profusely, as if in competition with the lilac hedge downhill from it.  It was a sparkling morning.
