Nearly 16 years after one of the most formative experiences in my artistic career - a drawing and painting workshop in Italy, I returned to Umbria, a bucolic farming province north of Rome, Italy, in the summer of 2017 for a 2-week residency program. This exhibition, Un Bel Sogno (“A Beautiful Dream”), comprises 14 of the seventeen paintings that resulted from that trip and is the first time these paintings are being shown to the public. Most of them were painted on-site in the tiny medieval village of Montecastello di Vibio (population of about 1600). There are views of the colorful patchwork farms in the valley below town, as well as the town walls made of stone and brick, and charming light-filled piazzas. I wrote about this experience on my blog.
This exhibit is hosted graciously by Baciccia, a new Italian restaurant that offers brick-oven pizza and Liguria-inspired cuisine crafted with a passion for flavor, freshness and authenticity. Baciccia is located at 426a 7th Avenue, Brooklyn, and open Monday & Tuesday, 4-10:30 pm; Wednesday & Thursday, noon-10:30 pm; Friday & Saturday, noon-11; Sunday, noon-10 pm.
Please join me in celebrating the opening of this exhibit on Tuesday, May 15, 5-7 PM, with a glass or two of sparkling Prosecco. We hope you will be inspired also to stay for dinner and try the delicious pastas and brick-oven pizza!
