An idea whose time has come... now available, a compilation of my paintings from over the last 8 years, depicting the Gowanus Canal and scenes nearby: Gowanus - The Canal and Its Environs. With almost 30 color reproductions, printed on high quality, heavyweight paper, this paperback book documents how many ways I was inspired by the canal. Today I sold another painting, "Sunset from 9th Street Bridge" that was in the GCC benefit exhibition last month. Who would have thought with this economy?..." in the face of all the fiscal gloom and doom around us", said John Muir, a board member of GCC and a collector of my paintings. The buyer was thrilled to know that 40% will go towards GCC's efforts (and it's tax-deductible!). There is hope; let's be optimistic!
Meanwhile, I'm re-grouping in the studio. I'll be posting works in progress soon.
It was wonderful to sell 3 small paintings during the Gowanus Canal Conservancy's holiday show and sale last month. I also got another commission from it. I am grateful for the sales and happy to be able to have 40% of the sales go to the GCC.
This was possibly the fastest execution from idea-to-show opening. GCC's Vice Chairman, John Muir, who is also an art lover hatched this idea a couple of months ago and approached me to help organize it. Early Thanksgiving week, a retail site became available, and the Tuesday after T'giving we were drafting the "call to artists." The show opened successfully this past Friday, Dec 5, with four paintings sales. Read about this exhibition at the Brooklyn Eagle's website! Be sure to visit, 298 Bond Street (between Sackett and Union Streets), Thursdays thru Sundays (my website has details).
