Last night's opening reception at the 440 Gallery spilled out onto the sidewalk of 6th Avenue as dozens of artists, friends, and patrons gathered to celebrate the opening of The Brooklyn Show. I caught a glimpse of Florence Neal, the juror of the show, but did not get to meet her. Chatted with other artists in the show, Francis Sills, Emily Berger, Joanne McFarland. If you're in Park Slope, stop by the gallery. There's a wonderful range of media, themes and styles.

Well, it's not as if I don't have plenty of paintings, but I feel motivated to paint a few more for my upcoming exhibition: In/Sight=On/Site, Recent Paintings with Mary K. Connelly. We'll be showing at the Salmagundi Club in the Patrons' Gallery, a lovely newly renovated space on the second floor, from May 30 through June 11, 2009. Mark your calendars for the Opening Reception on Saturday, May 30, 3-6 pm and the Closing Reception on Thursday, June 11, 6-8 pm. Mary and I met at the the Vermont Studio Center during an artist residency program in 2006. We found that we have complementary takes on our approaches to painting. Her intimate, small-scale interiors and my cityscapes and landscapes speak to our shared Love of Place. Mary will be coming from Denver, CO, for this show. I'll post some of my new work soon!
